POP! (Potpourri of Photos)

We left Connecticut early this morning (8:00 AM), and headed to Maine as planned.  We arrived at our RV park which we will call home for the next two-three nights about 1:00 PM.  We are staying at the Walnut Grove RV Park in Alfred, ME.  This is a fairly central location for the lighthouses we wish to visit over the next few days. Traffic was heavy at times today, as everyone seemed to be heading to Boston or the mountains for the holiday weekend.

The staff at this RV park are wonderful and very accommodating.  They even backed the RV into the site they assigned us!  This is a far cry from the RV park in Connecticut (Wolf's Den in East Haddem, CT) where we spent the last two nights.  The park itself was in a lovely setting, but there were problems.  Low branches, soft dirt on sites (we had to be towed out), no hot water in the bathhouse (that was the coldest shower I have ever taken!!!!), poor cable and internet service and they charged us for checking in 30 minutes prior to their scheduled check in time.  We also had to pay $10 for a security pass key to get in the park  - we did get this back upon departure.  In all our travels around the country, this is one park that truly disappointed us...but it did not break us and now we are happy campers, keeping warm in the Turtle!  The temperatures have not been out of the fifties the last few days.  Each RV site at this park has a fire pit, and they are being used......it is currently 52 degrees outside, and it is expected to reach the low 40's tonight!

To date, on this leg of the journey, we have traveled 4,268 miles (includes side trips), gone through 19 states and visited 23 lighthouses.

Since we did not visit lighthouses today, we thought it would be fun to share some of the pictures we have taken as we passed through various towns and places of interest along the way!

Enjoy!
