Turtle Tales: The Journey Continues.......

This morning we said goodbye to our New Jersey family and headed to Connecticut - again. Only this time we by-passed I-95 altogether and had a very pleasant easy drive to East Haddam, CT where we will spend the next two nights. It was a beautiful day and we had no incidents with traffic jams per se, except for a small section of highway where they were doing road construction and traffic had to merge (about a mile or so).

We had a wonderful time visiting with family, but it was time to move on and continue our lighthouse quest.

Once we were set up at our RV site, (this is a very nice RV park with a huge pool (too cool to swim), a miniature golf course, fish pond and very nice bathhouse facilities) we headed to Old Saybrook, Ct. to view the Saybrook Baywater and Lynde Point Lighthouses. (Connecticut is a beautiful state, with a lot of quaint towns and interesting scenery. But then again, we have found that to be the reoccurring theme, in this area of the country). We also saw the New London Harbor Light, and the New London Ledge Lighthouse as well as the Avery Point Lighthouse and from a distance, the Latimer Reef (NY) Lighthouse. In addition we saw the Race Rock Lighthouse, again from a distance (this lighthouse is actually in New York) and an unknown lighthouse we found while looking for the Morgan Point Lighthouse. And finally, we arrived in Mystic, CT and saw the Mystic Seaport Lighthouse. There is also a lighthouse at the RV park where we are staying which we affectionately call the Putt=Putt Lighthouse. We ended the day at The Fisherman Restaurant in Noank, CT, just outside of Mystic, and enjoyed a delicious dinner. We wanted to eat at Abbott's or Ford's which are both known for delicious food- especially lobster- but Abbott's was not open, and Ford's was packed and had a long waiting line......;(

Tomorrow we will see two more lighthouses in Connecticut, then head to Rhode Island to begin our lighthouse hunt in that state.

Each lighthouse has a history, but I am limiting this blog to pictures as the wifi at the RV park where we are staying is very slow, at best, and I am not sure now much more data I can input.
