Well, as mentioned before, Lacy was very sick all night long, so we called a local vet bright and early this morning and as it turned out, it is the same vet that our friend who is taking care of the girls while we are in Hawaii uses, so that worked out great! Lacy had developed a bacteria infection and was prescribed three different meds - an antibiotic, an anti- diahrrea med, and a supplement to put on her food to replace the good bacteria that she is losing with the bad bacteria. Bland diet of chicken and rice and she should be feeling better in 48 hours. By noon the first dose of medication had kicked in, and she was resting comfortably and catching up on lost sleep. Gosh I just hate it when the dogs are sick and can't tell us what is hurting.......
Once we returned to the RV, we packed up, hooked up and headed for Jim's house which was only about eight miles from the RV Park. We set up the RV and we waited for Jim to get home from work around 4 PM. I noticed that Penny wasn't her usual self, but didn't worry too much about it as she was still eating and was willing to play. Jim arrived home and after catching up with him and what he is happening in his life (he just finished writing a book!) we left the girls and headed for Joe and Joy Ritter's house for the evening. Leaving the girls was one of the hardest parts of this trip! It just broke my heart! (Can you tell they are spoiled?) They have never been left with anyone - other than my sister - who they see every day) so leaving them in a strange place with a person they didn't know, was not easy. However, Jim is a very caring person and we know the girls are in good hands. Joy and Joe could not keep the girls as they were heading on a trip to the east coast to visit family this week. Jim said I'm not putting the girls in the kennel runs, I've set up two crates in one of the bedrooms in the house and they will be happy there. Did I mention the girls are spoiled? Jim Cheskawich you are the best! (BTW - Jim's Champion - Riley won Best of Breed at the Samoyed Club of America National Specialty recently - at eleven years of age - out of the Veteran Class! This is big, and it couldn't happen to a nicer person!)
Once we arrived at Joe and Joy's house, we went to a restaurant called "Freddy's" and had another great meal! I had the best clam chowder and fish and chips I have ever eaten! Everything was delicious! The conversation was great and it was nice to just relax after a very long night with a sick dog!
Tomorrow we head to Portland to catch the plane to Oahu! We are anxious to see our son Jeremy who is serving in the Army there, and who has recently returned from Iraq! Hope the weather is good!
No pictures today - too busy getting things ready for our departure and taking care of a sick dog!
