Day 8 & 9 - It's the little blessing in life that touch the soul.........

It has been a while since we have been around active little ones!  But what a blessing they are!  We are just having too much fun playing silly games, going for walks, coloring, building, playing with play doh and oh, so much more!  Of course bed time comes earlier after a full day of "playing" - just wish I had half their energy!

I am always envious of my Emmaus Sisters, who are always sharing their memory-making activities with their grandchildren, who live close to them, at our Tuesday morning prayer time........now it is their turn to be envious of me as I have had the best time just sharing a hug, listening to their conversations and watching them interact with each other, the dogs, and their Mom and Dad!  The innocence is pure and the love is unconditional, and the best part is that they think the sun rises and the moon sets with Jim and I!  It just doesn't get any better than that!

We did get out and explore some of Lexington, it is an interesting town and there are some wonderful architectural structures that date back to 1839 that are still in excellent shape and are being used for various businesses.  And then of course, there are the pigs.............As I mentioned before, this area is considered the BBQ Capital of the World (A-hem)  and of course, the BBQ is Pork!  A typical chopped BBQ sandwich includes shredded pork, coleslaw and a vinegar based BBQ sauce which will cure anything that ails ya!  When Jason first moved to NC and went out for BBQ with friends, he asked for a chopped BBQ sandwich and when presented with the sandwich containing the above mentioned ingredients, told the waitress that she clearly misunderstood his request.  She said "No Sir, this is BBQ - NC Style".  Well you can imagine how that went over with this fine Texas grown man!  It was like "Where's the beef"?!  Anyway, back to the pigs.  They come in various sizes and are adorned in various fashion depending on the business it sits in front of on the main street in "Uptown" Lexington.  They really are cute.  Even the Country Club next door has their own pig!

Our plan is to depart from here on Monday morning and head to Virginia Beach.  There are a couple of lighthouses there to visit.  We have already visited the lighthouses on the Outer Banks of NC so we don't need to re-visit that area, although it is one of our favorite places to visit!

Tomorrow will be family day since Jason is off from work and Elijah and Missy do not have school.  Jim and Jason have a couple of projects planned and will make a trip to see about our Dish satellite which is not working - which does not make for a happy camper during football season if you get my drift.....:)

Oh, Seth's turtle arrived in the mail today, and he is so happy!  He has named him "Petey".

Til next time...............
