Heading North

Thursday, June, 9, 2016

We left Jason and Shannon's early Wednesday morning.  It was hard to say good bye, I miss the kiddos already.  We had a good visit and got to catch up and have fun as well.

We headed North and it was a beautiful day -blue skies and plenty of sunshine that I prayed I could package and send back to Texas!  Traffic was a lot heavier today than previous days and it was crazy.  Our destination for tonight is Front Royal which is located in the Shenandoah Valley. A Beautiful area of our Nation located 65miles west of Washington, D.C.. We stayed at Skyline RV Park and it was very quiet and serene.  Lizzie had an opportunity to run around and rid herself of pent up energy and anxiety.  The trip has been a little rough on her and she enjoyed just going for a walk, relaxing and playing with her toys.  We will definitely be visiting the Vet once we get to NJ to get meds to make the riding much more enjoyable in the future.

There is a lot of history in this area and I wish we could have had more time to explore. The Shenandoah Valley is a geographic valley region of western Virginia and the eastern panhandle of West Virginia.  The Valley is surrounded by the east by the Blue Ridge Mountains and to the west by the eastern front of the Ridge and Appalachians.  To the North lies the Potomac River and south by the James River.  For more information about this area, go to  www.shenandoahvalley.com

Pilot Mountain.

A very obvious sight as we left North Carolina was Pilot Mountain.Pilot Mountain, a metamorphic quartzite monadnock rising to a peak 2,421 feet (738 m) above sea level, is one of the most distinctive natural features in the state of North Carolina. It is a remnant of the ancient chain of Sauratown Mountains. The Saura Indians, the region's earliest known inhabitants, called the mountain "Jomeokee", meaning "great guide".

Til next time..............
