Sunday, Sunday, A Beautiful Day The Lord Has Made!

June 12, 2016

Sunday we got up and went to church with Penny at the Stanton Reformed Church.  We have attended this church with Penny often and today's service was led by the young children and youth.  It was a wonderful service and it was fun watching the children participate in the service.

After church was the annual church picnic and we had a great time meeting the church members and of course eating the delicious food that is always scrumptious at any church gathering!

After the picnic I went in Penny's pool for a short time and I have to tell you it was cold, but refreshing.  Billy and Karen came over and visited for a while and then left.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing, trying to work on the computer and playing with Lizzie.

Stanton Reformed Church, Stanton, NJ.

The Stanton Reformed Church was organized on October 15, 1833 as the Dutch Reformed Church of Mt. Pleasant.  The name was changed to the Reformed Dutch Church of Stanton in 1852.  A parsonage was built in 1853-1854, and a steeple was added in 1914.  The original church was destroyed by fire caused be lightening in the summer of 1931.  The stone pillar near the front portion of the patio is the only remaining portion of the original building.  A new sanctuary was built in 1932.  The present sanctuary was added and dedicated in 1964.  The church has been serving the community for 175 years.

Until next time.........................
